Types of  rhinoplasty in Turkey

At Mydora Health Care, our surgeons perform 5 types of rhinoplasty.   These are closed, open, ethnic, revision and  functional rhinoplasty. The patient’s intended outcome and surgeon’s recommendation will determine the type of surgery that is performed. The most common type of surgery technique is closed rhinoplasty in Turkey.

1. Closed: No external scarring is caused by this method’s use of incisions inside the nostrils. Through these incisions, the surgeon can reach the nose’s underlying structures, yet this method is typically less invasive than open rhinoplasty. If you need to fix a deviated septum or have mild cosmetic concerns, closed rhinoplasty might be a good alternative.

2. Open: In this technique, the columella (the tissue in between the nostrils) is cut, allowing the surgeon to elevate the skin and more easily access the underlying tissues. If you require extensive structural adjustments or have more intricate cosmetic issues, open rhinoplasty may be the better option. With this method, there might be some outward scarring, though.

3. Ethnic: This method is specifically designed to address the special requirements of patients from various ethnic origins. In contrast to individuals of European heritage, patients of Middle Eastern, African, or Asian descent may have differing nasal anatomy and aesthetic desires. In Turkey, a skilled rhinoplasty surgeon can adapt the operation to provide a natural-looking outcome that accentuates your facial features.

4. Revisional: This type of rhinoplasty is used to fix cosmetic or functional problems with prior nose surgery. A surgeon with substantial training and ability is necessary for revision rhinoplasty since it might be more complicated than an initial rhinoplasty.

5. Functional: It improves nasal breathing or fixes structural flaws that are the cause of symptoms like snoring or persistent congestion. Functional rhinoplasty can be done separately or in conjunction with cosmetic rhinoplasty.

What is expected after the rhinoplasty?

Just after the surgery, pain and swelling will be most pronounced in the first week post-surgery, and you will likely have some bruising and tenderness on your cheeks and under your eyes for a week or two, but this typically heals.

What should you do after rhinoplasty?

Ice therapy is quite helpful in the recovery room right away following your rhinoplasty in preventing or at the very least minimizing swelling and black and blue. We advise applying as much ice as you can for the first 48 hours. The secret to a quicker rhinoplasty recovery time is taking care of your nose right away after the procedure. The first night, resting with two to three pillows and a modest upright position allows any blood in the tissues drain out the nostrils. This is preferable to lingering within the tissues and inflicting edema, blackness, and blueness.

What are the phases of post-rhinoplasty swelling?

You’ll experience swelling right away following rhinoplasty surgery. Because of fluid buildup within and beneath your skin, swelling makes your nose larger than it normally is. Following rhinoplasty surgery, swelling progresses through various stages, including:

Four to six weeks following surgery: After surgery, your nose will continue to swell for four to six weeks. It will appear and feel bigger than usual. The skin around your nose may bruise or change color as it heals.

Three months following surgery: Between one and three months, the swelling will gradually go down. The majority (about 90%) of the edema will disappear within three months.

Up to a year following surgery:  There may still be some minor swelling in your nose. When the swelling has totally subsided, you will be able to fully appreciate the procedure’s effects.

After a rhinoplasty, everyone recovers in a different way. Swelling intensity and the timeframe until you notice results are both subject to change. To ensure appropriate healing of your nose, adhere to your doctor’s post-surgery treatment instructions and keep all scheduled follow-up appointments.

A closed rhinoplasty is one in which all incisions are skillfully concealed on the inside of the nose. The columella, or lower section of the nose that creates the skin and tissue between the nostrils, is also incised during open rhinoplasty. With the incisions concealed inside the nose, our surgeons conduct the great majority of their treatments using a closed rhinoplasty technique. Significant bleeding is incredibly rare during any of their surgeries because of their intense obsession with sculpting each part. The odds of a better outcome are increased overall when each piece is carefully dissected and shaped. This also leads to reduced post-operative edema and a shorter recovery period. Complications are possible, even if they are unlikely, as medicine is an art and not a precise science.
