Labiaplasty in Turkey
Labiaplasty which is also called labial reduction or labium minus reduction, is a surgical treatment performed to make the labia minora smaller. The term “labia minora” describes the small lips that cover the urethra’s opening. The procedure can be done for cosmetic reasons or to solve functional issues like pain and discomfort during intercourse. Moreover, extra labial tissue might twist, spin, or get pinched, which can be physically uncomfortable and irritable while exercising or walking. Likewise, excessive tissue makes it hard to clean and could hold bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. Labial reduction can be carried out under local or general anesthesia.

Things to consider before Labiaplasty in Turkey
- Please inform the medical team about the medicines, vitamins, herbal supplements you use during your medical evaluation.
- Stop using aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, Vitamin E, herbal supplements, or any medications containing these compounds for two weeks before surgery.
- Stop drinking green tea at least 10 days before surgery.
- It is recommended to refrain from smoking two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. Smoking delays recovery time and can result in scarring.
- Do not eat or drink anything, including water, after midnight the night before your surgery.
- Arrange for someone to stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
- If you have any medical condition, please bring all your medical results and reports with you.
- Please keep in mind that this procedure needs to be carried out after the end of menstrual period. In addition to that, before surgery, if you have an existing vaginal infection, it needs to be treated.
Types of Labiaplasty in Turkey
1. Trim Procedure
It’s the original and most natural technique. Additionally, it is the method that surgeons use the most frequently. In this treatment, the extra labia minora tissue is cut out and stitched to the labia majora to create symmetry.
2. Wedge Procedure
In this operation, a partial thickness wedge is taken out of the thickest part of the labia minora. Only a thin layer of the submucosa (the layer of tissue under a mucous barrier) must be taken away. This method keeps the vagina’s natural look by leaving the sides wrinkled.
How is Labiaplasty performed in Turkey?
Many patients choose to undergo the treatment under general anesthesia. However, it can be performed under local anesthesia as well. The labiaplasty surgery takes 45 minutes to one hour. The surgeon makes two cuts, one on either side of the inner labia. Then, the surgeon will make horizontal incisions that aren’t too deep. After that, the surgeon will remove any extra skin and muscle so that the lips are the same size and shape on both sides. After cutting away the tissue, the surgeon will use dissolvable stitches to close the cuts on either side of the labia.
Day of Labiaplasty
- On the morning of surgery, do not eat or drink anything, including water.
- Wear loose-fitting clothes that fasten in front or back.
- Leave all valuables in the safe box in your hotel room.
- Do not wear any facial or eye makeup. Please avoid nail polish.
- You may wear glasses but do not wear contact lenses.
- Bring your ID/passport and if you have any medical conditions, please bring medical reports with you.
Recovery after Labiaplasty in Turkey
After about two weeks after the surgery, stitches from a Labiaplasty surgery come out on their own without any intervention. Because of this, you don’t need to see a doctor to have stitches taken out. The vulva can be swollen, red, and sensitive in the first few days following surgery. Edema can be reduced with the help of ice packs applied every day or two. Since there are many muscles in the inner lips, the wound heals quickly. After one month, the vaginal region returns to normal. After 45 days, the patient can resume sexual activity.

- Cleaning genital shades and general hygiene should be meticulous.
- It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions when putting a dressing.
- For about 3 weeks, you shouldn’t go to the pool or sauna.
- You should wait 6 weeks before sexual activity.
