Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid Surgery in Turkey
Eyelid surgery which is also called Blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure used to fix hooded eyes and sagging upper eyelids. In addition to this, it can be used to reshape the patient’s eyelids to make them appear more attractive to the patient. Commonly, general anesthesia is used during the operation. The cut will be made in the natural crease of the eyelid. After that, the surgeon will remove excess skin, muscle, and fat that causes eyelid drooping or bags. When the cut is closed below the natural crease of the eyelid, any scar that results from eyelid surgery will be concealed within the natural folds of the eyelid.

Types of Eyelid Surgery in Turkey
1. Upper Eyelid
Upper blepharoplasty, known as an “upper eyelid lift,” is a surgical procedure that tightens sagging upper eyelids by removing excessive skin and fat deposits. This operation may be performed under either local or general anesthesia, and it gives patients a more alert and young look while also improving their peripheral vision if their eyesight was previously damaged by loose skin. Recovery generally takes 7 to 10 days. Complications like infections or vision issues are rare.
2. Lower Eyelid
a) Lower eyelid incision from outside
A tiny cut below the eyelashes removes excess under-eye bags. If required, stretching can be performed.
b) Applying transconjunctival (without a cut) to the inside of the eyelid
This approach is best for younger patients. Because extra skin tissue is not stretched or cut out in this method. Before the procedure, drawings are created to decide the method that will be used. During the procedure, precautions are taken as well to avoid injuring the cornea of the eye. The canthus can be repositioned to reshape the eye if the eyelids are loose or unnaturally placed. This also falls under the aesthetic category of “almond eyes.”
3. Double Eyelid
In a double eyelid surgery, the surgeon creates a fold in the upper eyelid lift, giving the eye a larger appearance.

How is Eyelid Surgery performed in Turkey?
If there is both upper and lower eyelid surgery, the surgeon will perform the upper eyelid surgery first. In upper eyelid surgery, the surgeon will apply specific markers to indicate the operating areas. After that, a surgical incision is made above the crease of the eyelid, and any extra skin, fat, or muscle is removed. Then, sutures are used to close the incision. In the lower eyelid surgery, the surgeon will begin by making a cut on the inner part of the lower eyelid or below the lower eyelashes. Then, the surgeon will cut away some of the skin and fat from the under-eye bags. After that, the surgeon will finish the surgery by stitching up the cut.
